Jared Rademacher, Sports Director
I’ve been a Southwest Minnesota kid for most of my life. I claim Okabena (I hope they claim me too!) as my hometown. I grew up on the family farm south of Okabena and graduated from Heron Lake-Okabena-Lakefield High School in 1996, where I played football, basketball, and attempted to play baseball. After high school, I went to Mayville State University in Mayville, North Dakota to play football for one year, before switching to the University of South Dakota to focus on my radio and television education. After graduating from USD in 2001, I went to work for KCAU-TV in Sioux City, Iowa where I was a newscast director for 4 years. Although I enjoyed my time down there immensely, I was starting to get the itch to come back home to Southwest Minnesota and I always wanted to try my hand at play-by-play broadcasting. So in June of 2005 I made the decision to move back home and in July I was hired by KDOM Radio in Windom. I had the honor of covering the Fulda Raiders Girls Basketball team as they won back-to-back state titles in 2006 and 2007 and the state tournament run in 2008 by the Southwest Star Quasars Girls Basketball team. I joined the KWOA crew on July 1st this year. It’s actually a homecoming of sorts as I used to work here part-time in 1994-1995.
When it comes to my favorite teams, I am a HUGE Minnesota Sports fan. Vikings, Twins, Gophers, Timberwolves: I’ll be ready to talk about anything with anyone. Also I am a big North Carolina Tar Heels basketball fan…and I really don’t know why, but I always rooted for them (maybe because my brother Chris is a big Duke basketball fan….I don’t know, just saying! Go Heels!) When I get the chance I like to golf (can’t hit a driver to save my life!)
To say that Sports is my life would probably sum it up the best. I am thankful that I get to work and talk about Sports for a living and I hope to get out and meet as many parents and fans that I can. I would love nothing better for anyone to come up and say hi and if you want to talk Sports, that sounds good to me, and I can’t wait for the fall season to start.
Join me weekday morning for Mid-Day Sports Talk at 11:00am as we’ll keep you up to date and informed on what’s going on with your favorite team in the tri-state area. We’ll visit with high school coaches from the tri-state area, keep you in the loop with the latest in college athletics and you’ll be plugged in to what’s happening in the big cities too.
You can tune in to my sports reports at various times throughout the day on KWOA starting at 6:20am and during the day on 95.1 The Eagle and 93.5 The Breeze.
Feel free to get a hold of me at anytime. If you know of any event locally that’s sports related I would love to know about it.
