As of today, there are only seven days left for Congress to come to a compromise on national GMO labeling, ahead of the Vermont law coming into effect July 1, 2016. Negotiations continue between the U.S. Senate Ag Committee Chairman Pat Roberts and Ranking member Debbie Stabenow.
At the same time, two sets are sitting firm on their positions: The Coalition for Safe Affordable Food is open to a legislative deal that would make GMO disclosure mandatory, so long as other disclosure methods could e used. However, the Center for Food Safety, the Orgnaic Consumers Association and other groups are refusing to budge, firm on their position that on-farm language is necessary, as it will be in the looming Vermont labeling law.
Tune in this Thursday as we catch up with prominent leaders within the Coalition for Safe Affordable Food to get their views.
This week, Barry Roberts catches up with Worthington Hy-Vee Dietitian Claire Jucht to discuss the health benefits of dairy. Did you know June is Dairy Month? Celebrate with us!
