Yesterday, in a vote of 14-6, the Senate Agriculture Committee moved to approve a bill that would stop states from requiring GMO labeling. More specifically, the bill would create new voluntary labels for companies that want to use them on food packages that contain genetically modified ingredients. It would also block a first-time labeling requirement that is set to take effect in Vermont in July.
