DeJong signs on to wrestle for Iowa State Cyclones

On Wednesday (11/15), Sibley-Ocheyedan wrestling standout Hunter DeJong signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle collegiately at Iowa State University in Ames (IA).

DeJong is coming off a junior season where he went 51-6 and finished in 4th place at the Iowa Class A State Wrestling Tournament at 195 pounds.  DeJong also qualified for state as a sophomore and a freshman at the 182 pound weight class at the Iowa Class A State Wrestling Tournament.  He had a record of 40-7 as a sophomore and 40-15 as a freshman.

DeJong is coming off a sensational summer as DeJong was a medal winner at
the Cadet Pan-American Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina in July.  Wrestling for Team USA, DeJong came back home with a gold medal in Freestyle and a Silver Medal in Greco-Roman.  He also was a winner of the Bill Smith Greco Tournament in April and finished in 1st place in the USAW Preseason Nationals in October.
