Gunnink named MCAC Player of the Week
For the 2nd week in a row and for the 3rd time this season, a Minnesota West Lady Jay Basketball Player has earned Player of the Week Honors from the Minnesota College Athletics Conference.
Minnesota West's Tanner Gunnink has been named the MCAC Southern Division Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The 6'1" freshman from Edgerton averaged 16 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game in a pair of Lady Jay victories. In the span of the 2 games, Gunnink shot 54% (14-of-26) from the floor. On the season, Tanner Gunnink is shooting 62.7 percent from the floor which is 1st in the nation. She is averaging 12.6 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game. Gunnink earned Player of the Week honors a week after fellow freshman and Edgerton native Breanna Nelson won the award last week. The first Lady Jay to win Player of the Week honors was Brooke Henning back in Week 5
The Minnesota West Lady Jays have won 6 in a row and are 8-7 overall and 2-0 in Southern Division play heading into the week. The Lady Jays will host Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday at the Center for Health and Wellness on the Minnesota West campus in Worthington
