Katherin Ihnen named NJCAA All-American

Katherin Ihnen has added another accolade to an already impressive list of honors

The National Junior College Athletic Association has released their All-American list for the 2017-2018 Women’s Basketball season and Minnesota West Lady Jay Katherin Ihnen has been named a Division III Second Team All-American this season.

This season, Ihnen was named to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference All-Southern Division first team and was an MCAC All-State selection as well.

She became just the 5th Lady Jay in program history to join the 1,000 point club in their 2-year careers.  Katherin finished this season with 626 points (average of 21.6 per game) and finished her career with 1,064 points and is 4th all-time on the Lady Jay career scoring list.  

She also added her name to the record books for rebounding as earlier this season, she broke the record for career rebounds.  Ihnen moved past Clara Rohlik of Lucan (583 career rebounds) for the #1 spot on the career rebounding list as Katherin finished her Lady Jay career with 653 rebounds (average of 11.8 rebounds per game in her career).

Ihnen also broke the record for most rebounds in a single season with 379 rebounds (an average of 13.7 rebounds per game) which moved her past Rohlik who had 369 rebounds in the 1979-1980 season.  

Ihnen is also the Lady Jays record holder for points in a game, scoring 48 points against Vermilion on December 2nd, 2017

Katherin Ihnen was named MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the Week three times and was named Division III National Player-of-the-Week in Week 
5.  She was also named an All-American honorable mention selection by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
