Minnesota West Lady Jays and Bluejays split with Fergus Falls
The Minnesota West Lady Jay and Bluejay basketball teams hosted the MSCTC-Fergus Falls Spartans on Wednesday
In the women's game, the Spartans were lights out from the field, especially in the 1st half, as Fergus Falls shot 64% from the field (23-36) in the 1st half and took a 54-37 into the halftime break. Coming into the game, Fergus Falls scored on average 60 points a game. The 2nd half was all Spartans as well, outscoring the Lady Jays 48-38 to claim a 102-77 victory. Taylor Noid led the Lady Jays with 21 points, 11 assists and 4 steals. Breanna Nelson made 5 three-pointers on her way to 17 points and Dani Hermeling added 14 points as the Lady Jays fall to 8-10 on the season and 2-3 in MCAC Southern Division play
In the men's game, the Minnesota West Bluejays dominated the 2nd half on their way to a 74-49 win over the Spartans. Minnesota West held a 28-20 lead at halftime and followed that up by outscoring the Spartans 46-29 in the 2nd half to earn the victory. Sophomore guard Tyler Aquallo was lights out from beyond the three-point line, making 8-of-16 three-pointers and lead the Bluejays with a game-high 30 points. Freshman Justin Kruse was an animal on the glass, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds and had a highlight dunk off the backboard on a perfect assist from Zech Adams. Freshman Jordan Chester came off the bench to score 11 points and had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as the Bluejay men improve to 6-11 on the season and 3-5 in division play.
