Patterson named MCAC and National Baseball Player of the Week

Minnesota West's Tyler Patterson has been named the MCAC Southern Division Baseball Player of the Week and the NJCAA Division III National Baseball Player of the Week after helping the Bluejays earn 4 wins at home over the weekend.  

Patterson, a sophomore from Fullerton (CA), had a sensational weekend.  Starting on Saturday, Patterson hit 3 homeruns in Minnesota West's 2 wins over MSCTC-Fergus Falls.  Patterson added to his totals on Sunday in the 2 games against Central Lakes adding 2 more homeruns as the Bluejays swept the Raiders on Sunday.  Overall in the 4 games, Patterson was 10-for-11 at the plate (a .908 batting average) with 5 homeruns, a double and 11 RBI's.   He also scored 12 times and stole 2 bases.

With the monster weekend Patterson is now 2nd in the MCAC Southern Division in batting average at .567 (17-of-30), leads the division in homeruns with 5 and is 2nd in the division in RBI's with 18.  His 11 stolen bases is tied for 3rd best in the division as Minnesota West has the top 4 spots in the standings for stolen bases.  

The Minnesota West Bluejays are 14-8 overall and will be at the Haller Invitational at St. Cloud Tech this weekend with 2 games on Saturday and 2 more on Sunday
