Sorenson named MCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week

-The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released their weekly baseball honors and Minnesota West’s Tucker Sorenson has been named the MCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week. Sorenson, a sophomore from Worthington, scattered four walks while racking up 14 strikeouts for the Bluejays in a 5-3 win over Anoka-Ramsey.  He only conceded a pair of earned runs and claimed the win on the day. Sorenson twice struck out the side and came up big late striking out the final Anoka-Ramsey hitter with the bases loaded to end the game. Along with his pitching exploits, Sorenson went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI's, stole a base and scored a run for Minnesota West as well.
So far this season, Sorenson has a 2-0 record on the mound and in 15 innings pitched, Sorenson has given up 5 earned runs for a 3.00 ERA, allowing 12 hits, walking 9 and has 25 strikeouts so far this season (a ratio of 15 strikeouts per 9 innings). At the plate, Sorenson is hitting .344 at the plate (21-of-61) with 3 doubles, 13 RBI's and has stolen 12 bases so far this season.
Minnesota West (11-17) is scheduled to play at Riverland Community College here today on Friday (4/19)
