Two Bluejays earn MCAC Weekly Football honors

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released their weekly Football awards and two Bluejays were honored by the MCAC this week.

Bluejay DB Cornell Washington was named the MCAC Western Division Player-of-the-Week.  Washington, a freshman from Harvey (IL), intercepted 3 passes in the Bluejays win over the Ironmen and returned one 38 yards for a touchdown.  On the season Washington has 28 tackles, including 2 for a loss, along with 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 2 passes broken up and 3 interceptions.

Bluejay QB Caleb Tinklenberg has been names the MCAC Western Division Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for a 3rd time this season.  Tinklenberg was 5-of-6 on PAT attempts in the win over Vermilion.

The Minnesota West Bluejays are 3-4 and begin MCAC State Tournament play in Thief River Falls where they will take on Northland in the opening round on Sunday at 1:30pm.  Northland won at home over the Bluejays in the regular season 56-36
