ONGOING EVENTS
Weekly "Bingo Night"
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.
Divorce Care
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.
Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Pipestone County Museum
Free Admission Saturdays, continuing through Memorial Day of 2013, features exhibits on the Pipestone Fire Department, Pipestone National Monument and Pipestone County Country Schools. Open hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pipestone County Museum.
Pioneer Village Volunteers
The Nobles County Retired Senior Volunteer Program is seeking volunteers to help staff the office at Worthington's Pioneer Village this summer. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 507-295-5262

May 18 - Monthly Community Gathering for Seniors
May is National Stroke Awareness month and Living Life Adult Day Centers monthly Community Gathering for Seniors on Wednesday, May 15th will focus on this topic with a presentation from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. These events are held at their facility, 500 Stower Drive and are free of charge and open to the community. May 18 - Spring Rally & Car Show
Papik's Spring Rally & Car Show will be held May 18th from 11 a.m.. until 2 p.m. featuring street rods, classics, collectibles, race car drivers, refreshments, burgers and door prizes. Don't miss out!
May 18 - WEC's Grand Opening Gala
Tickets are now on sale for the first-ever event at the new Worthington Event Center. Community members are invited to attend the WEC’s grand opening gala May 18th and enjoy music by three local bands. A meal featuring teriyaki shrimp on a skewer and Monterrey chicken catered by BenLee’s of Worthington begins at 7:00 p.m. A wine tasting by Worthington Liquor Store goes from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Dance music will be provided by Tommy Gunn, Sideline and Starfire. Tickets are now on sale at Worthington City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce office, Schafer’s Health & Gifts and the Worthington Liquor Store. Space is limited so people are encouraged to buy tickets early. Tickets are $40.00 per person. May 18 - Annual Ride-a-Thon
The New Life Treatment Center Annual Horse Ride-a-Thon is May 18th at 10 a.m. at the Center. If any rider or buggy or wagon drivers would like to join the caravan, regardless of fund raising amounts, just come on out! There is no "entry fee" or minimum amount that any person must raise, all riders are welcome. The proceeds for the Horse Ride-a-Thon will go towards new chairs in the dining room and lecture room. Awards and prizes will be presented in recognition of various categories with the Ride-a-Thon concluded at approximately 1:30 p.m. - all participants can enjoy a picnic lunch and T-shirt. May 18 - "Dogsbreath Devereaux" auditions
Auditions for the Fourth of July Melodrama performances at Pioneer Village will be from 6 to 9 p.m. May 18 in the Fire Station at Pioneer Village. The production, “Dogsbreath Devereaux,” will be performed three times during the Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration. Rehearsals will be in June. The play has roles for four men, six women and an assortment of extras.
May 18 - 20th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast
The 20th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast, featuring speaker Jay Milbrandt (author of "Go and Do") will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18th at the American Reformed Church in Worthington. Tickets are available at the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, Johnson Eye Clinic, Ax Photo or from any Early Risers Kiwanis members.
May 19 - Annual Elks Pancake Breakfast
Join the Elks for its annual pancake breakfast on May 19th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Youth from First Lutheran will be serving pancakes, eggs, sausage, and beverages in a fundraising effort for their summer trips to Sugar Creek in Wisconsin and Benton Harbor in Michigan. Adults cost $6.50 and youth $4.50
May 19 - Solid Rock Motorcycle Rally
You're invited to the Solid Rock Motorcycle Rally on Sunday, May 19th beginning at 10 a.m. at Solid Rock Assembly (bike line-up begins at 9 a.m.). There's fun for the whole family, including $1,500 in cash prize giveaways, door prizes, free hog roast, and more! For more information, call 376-5770
May 19 - Pancake Benefit for Fest Family
A pancake breakfast benefit for the Alexander Fest will be held Sunday, May 19th at the Heron Lake Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free will donation. A silent auction will also take place at the same time, with all funds going towards the Fest family. If you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute, donations can be made at Wells Fargo Banks under the Alexander R Fest Donation Trust.
May 19 - Vacation Bible School
The American Reformed Church in Worthington is inviting children three-years-old through fifth grade to its Vacation Bible School from Sunday, May 19th to Thursday, May 23rd from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. each night. . The theme is God's Backyard Bible Camp Under the Stars with a focus on serving family, friends, neighbors, community and Jesus! Each day will include a free meal, music, skits, Bible lessons, Scripture memory, crafts, games, and service projects. May 21 - Special Olympics Tip Night
The Sheldon Pizza Ranch is having a special tip night on May 21st at 5 p.m. for the Special Olympics. All tips and proceeds will go towards the Sheldon Community School athletes for the Special Olympic program.
May 21 - BBQ Pork Sandwich Drive-Thru
The Peace United Methodist Church of Pipestone is offering a BBQ Pork sandwich drive-thru dinner from 5 until 7 p.m. at the church. No need to cook! Proceeds go towards missions and other general funds.
May 21 - Pizza Ranch Tip Night
Prairie Star Ministries will host the tip night at Pizza Ranch on May 7th from 5 until 8 p.m. Proceeds go towards their June mission trip to Canada.
May 22 - WCS Golf Tournament Fundraiser
The Worthington Christian School Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, May 22nd. This format is a scramble and may be all men, all women, or a mix. Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams, based on three best scores overall and not category. If you'd like to register as a sponsor, please RSVP by April 15th. May 22/25 - Shrek the Musical Auditions
Calling all community members 9 to 99! Auditions for Shrek the Musical! Wednesday, May 22, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 25, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Auditions will be at the Memorial Auditorium Performing Arts Center and packets can be picked up at the Auditorium Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. or call 507-329-3073. The Friends of the Auditorium are looking for 50-60 people; on the stage as performers and behind the scenes as costume builders & tailors, set builders & painters. There are fairytale characters, singing and non-singing roles, and large chorus numbers.
May 31 - 28th Annual Cruise Dinner
The YMCA 28th Annual Cruise Dinner will be held on Friday, May 31st at the new Worthington Event Center (one of the first public events) featuring "The R Factor" nine-piece band. Contact the YMCA to purchase your tickets for this event going from 5 until 8 p.m. with a social, silent auction and dinner. All proceeds go towards youth and family programming at the YMCA.
May 31 - 20th Annual Buffalo Days Cruise-In
Luverne's 20th Annual Buffalo Days Cruise-In will run May 31st from 6 to 10 p.m. along main street. Enjoy the sounds of Goebies Oldies, a beer garden and food court.

June 1 - Pie & Ice Cream Social
In conjunction with the Ellsworth Family Fun Days, a homemade pie and ice cream social (along with BBQ, hips, and pickles) will be held on Saturday, June 1st from 4:30 p.m. until gone at the Ellsworth Senior Citizens (located 1/2 block west of Main Street on the Midway).
June 6 - Pizza Ranch Tip Fundraiser
The Worthington Avera Medical Group Relay for Life Team is hosting a Ranch Tip Night on June 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. Tips and a portion of the profits go towards the Relay for Life team!
June 8 - BeBallin 2013
BeBallin 2013 is back for another year on June 8th at Harmon Park. Three-on-three tournaments with multiple divisions, a three-point shooting contest and dunk contest are just a few of the featured events. June 8 - 1st Annual Worthington Spring Fling
The 1st Annual Worthington Spring Fling vendor and craft show will be held June 8th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Reformed Church. Admission is free and food will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with door prizes given away throughout the event.
June 8 - 7th Annual Bike Ride
The Seventh Annual Worthington Regatta Bike Ride will be held in conjunction with the Worthington Windsurfing Regatta and Unvarnished Music Festival. Options for routes include 15-miles, 30-miles, and 50-miles. Cost is $20 per rider or $50 per family (3 or more). Registration begins on June 8th at 7:30 a.m. at 10th Street and Second Avenue with all rides departing from registration location at 8:30 a.m. All proceeds go towards community programs. June 11 - 58th Annual MN Horticulture Society Convention
The 58th Annual Convention of the Minnesota State Horticultural Society Fourth District "Prairie Gardeners" will be held on June 11th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Springfield Community Center. This convention will feature a flower show, plant sale, and white elephant sale through the day. Please pre-register by May 24th. Cost is $5 per person (not including lunch) or $12 per person (includes lunch). Costs increase slightly if not pre-registered by May 24th.
June 22 - 2nd Annual Cruise for Cancer
The 2nd Annual Cruise for Cancer Ride is slated for Saturday, June 22nd. Bring your two-, three-, or four-wheel vehicle to the Lismore Bar and Grill with registration beginning at noon. The Cruise will start at 1 p.m. with a burger bar at the conclusion around 5 pm. Cost is $25 per person or $15 per person (for the meal only). July 20 - Indian Lake Progressives' Wild 5K Walk/Run
The Indian Lake Progressives' Wild 5K Run/Walk is coming up Saturday, July 20th at the Brewster City Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the 5K run/walk slated to start at 9 a.m. All ages and fitness levels are welcome! Cost is $10 if pre-registered by July 10 (only pre-registered are guaranteed a t-shirt) or $15 the day of the race. All funds will be used to benefit the Brewster Park play equipment - join them for a good cause and for good health!
