ONGOING EVENTS

Weekly "Bingo Night" 
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.

Divorce Care
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.  Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.

Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Senior Dances
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!

Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Free Dental Implants
Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Worthington Farmers' Market
The Worthington Farmers Market is now in full swing. Shop for fresh, local produce and homemade goods on Tuesdays from 4 – 7 p.m. at the parking lot at Second Avenue and 10th Street in downtown Worthington and on Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Ace Hardware on Oxford Street. The market continues each week through the growing season. Stop by each week and see what is new!

September 11 - KTD Mixer

Please plan to attend the King Turkey Day Mixer at the Long Branch on Thursday, September 11th, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Food will be served from 5:00 p.m. until gone. Everyone is welcome; your King Turkey Day Button is your admission.

September 12 - KTD Country Night
Country recording artist Drake White will take the stage at the Worthington Arena on Friday, September 12th. Special guest Chris Hawkey will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. with Drake White following. Cost is $10.00. You can purchase your tickets at the Radio Works Radio Stations, the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and The Daily Apple. September 12 - KTD Flower Show
The Worthington Garden Club will sponsor their annual Turkey Day Flower Show at the Worthington Wells Fargo Bank on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The show is open to the public and anyone may exhibit. A prize will be awarded to a non-garden club member. All specimens, arrangements or potted plants should be at the bank by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014 and picked up at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12th.

September 13 - KTD Rock Night
Come out to the Worthington arena on the Nobles County Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 13th from 8 p.m. until midnight! Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with the actual start; again, at 8 p.m. Cost is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. You can purchase your tickets at the Radio Works Radio Stations, the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and The Daily Apple. This is an all ages show and minors must be accompanied by an adult.

September 13 - KTD 5K Walk
The King Turkey Day 5K Walk is coming up Saturday, September 13th at 9 a.m. Pre-register by September 8th to guarantee your proper shirt and size at the event (featuring new for 2014 -- dri-fit long sleeve shirts!). Youth short sleeves will be avialable up until the pre-registration deadline. Cost is $15. The start time is at 9 a.m. sharp at 2nd Ave and 11th. September 13 - Bike Club Float Invite
Motorcyclist are invited to join a new up-and-coming Bike Club in the King Turkey Day Parade (float number 72). Anyone interested should meet at float number 72 at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13th in the parade lineup. For more information, call 507-360-3557

September 13 - Annual Heritage Fair
Mountain Lake's 40th Annual Heritage Fair is coming up Saturday, September 13th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Heritage Village (on southeast edge of Mountain Lake, just off Highway 60). September 13 - Gospel Night
The Cornerstone Baptist Church, 221 Third Street SW, (block west of courthouse) Orange City invites everyone to a night of gospel singing Saturday, September 13 at 7:00. The Bontrager Family singers from eastern Iowa will be presenting their musical program. A free-will offering will be taken and following the musical program, refreshments will be served. September 14 - Fall Festival 
The IHM Catholic Church of Currie invites you to its Fall Festival and Dinner on Sunday, September 14th from 11 to 1 p.m. Serving includes turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salads and desserts. Cost for adults is $8, with K-6 $5, preschool $1. Takeouts are also available for an additional $.50.

September 15 - Voter Informational Gathering
Be an informed voter! Discuss and learn the needs of the school district 518 and have questions answered on Monday, September 15th at 7 p.m. at the Worthington High School Cafeteria.

September 19-20 - Buffalo Ridge Apartments Fall Fest
9/19-20 - It's Fall Fest at Buffalo Ridge Apartments on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to noon in Worthington! Stop by for free coffee, apple cider, apple slices and apartment tours. You can register to win fabulous door prizes including gift cards to be given away all weekend.

September 21 - St. Adrian Fall Dinner
The St. Adrian Fall Dinner will be held Sunday, September 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. at the St. Adrian Church Parlor. Serving includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, coleslaw, buns, desserts and beverages. Cost is $8 for adults, ages 6-12 $4, and ages 2-5 $2. Take-out meals are available in Adrian between 4 and 6 p.m. There are also big ticket drawings and raffle items given away! (need not be present to win).

September 21 - Swiss Steak Supper
The Lake Wilson Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is hosting a swiss steak supper on Sunday, September 21st from 4 to 8 p.m. Cost for adults is $8.50 ($10 at the door) or $5.50 for ages 4-10 ($7 at the door). Those age three and under are free. Tickets are available at Lake Wilson's Minnwest Bank.

September 21-27 - Active Aging Week
The Center for Active Living will be sponsoring Active Aging Week beginning Sunday, September 21st and will go through Saturday, September 27th. To start the week off the CAL will be hosting a Community Motorcycle Ride. Anyone that has a motorcycles are encouraged to meet at W-2 meats parking lot. The ride will depart at 4:30 p.m. weather permitting. The ride will end at W-2’s parking lot where there will be a communitywide cook-out. W-2’s will be grilling hamburgers and brats and serving them with sides and drinks. This event is open to the public! There is no cost for the motorcycle ride and the cookout meal is only $8.00.

September 22 - CAL Golf Tournament
Make sure you grab your partner and get signed up for the Golf Tournament at Prairie View Golf Links. Fees are $35.00 per person for 9 holes and a cart. This will be a two person scramble. Check in time will be at 10:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. The deadline to sign up is September 16th. Lunch will be available for players and any spectators.

September 23 - Glass Etching Class/Wine & Canvas Event
Tuesday, September 23rd will be a creative and fun night! Starting at 4:30 p.m. the MN West Lifelong Learning Department will be hosting a Glass Etching Class at BenLee’s Café. This will be a Make and Take class with full instructions on the whole process of glass etching. The cost is only $15.00 for this class and you will bring home your work. Then at 6:00 p.m. the CAL will be hosting a Wine and Canvas Event. This group comes from Sioux Falls, SD where they host many of these events. The painting that will be done is called “Blossoming Tree in Moonlight”. It is a pretty picture and everone that comes will get step by step direction and will walk out with a wonderful masterpiece for their home. No experience or artist ability is needed for this class. They will show you how to do it and walk you through it. Space is limited to sign up soon; cost is $35.00.

September 23 - Harlem Ambassadors Basketball
Get ready for some dazzling ball-handling tricks, high-flying slam dunks, and hilarious family comedy. Join the Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Show on Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30 pm at the Sioux Center High School Gym, as they take on the FGSCP All-Stars, starring local area “celebrities”. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Free-will donation meal with chicken sandwiches, chips, and drink will be served prior to the event from 5:00-6:30 pm. All proceeds benefit the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs serving 9 counties in Northwest Iowa. September 24 - Brown Bag Speaker Program
The Nobles County Library is offering a Brown Bag Speaker Program on Wednesday, September 24th at noon in the Nobles County Museum (lower level of the library). Featured speaker will be Rachael Hanel, plus book signing.

September 25 - Speaker Joan Seffend
Let the Adventure Begin on Thursday, September 25th at 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium with inspirational speaker Joan Steffend. Joan has been a national Emmy-winning news anchor and a top-rated host on HGTV. Cost is free to Center for Active Living Members and $5.00 for non members. Tickets are available at the Memorial Auditorium Box Office. All seats reserved – 507-376-9101. Sponsored by the Worthington Regional Healthcare Foundation.

September 26-27 - 10th Annual Food for Kidz (Bagging event)
The 10th Annual Food for Kidz Bagging event will be held September 26th from noon to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lakefield Immanuel Activity Center. Donations are still being accepted. Any questions, call 507-662-5254.

September 27 - Rock River Pumpkin Festival
The 6th Annual Rock River Pumpkin Festival returns to the Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton. Enjoy a corn maze, pumpkin run 5k, pulled pork lunch, carnival games, petting zoo, plus hay and horse rides, a pie contest and a pumpkin launching contest. It's fun for the whole family on September 27th in Edgerton!

September 27 - "Corn Off the Cob" Variety Show
Head to the Worthington Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, September 27th for the "Corn off the Cob" Variety Show! Two different times will be offered; a 2:00 p.m. matinee and a 7:30 p.m. evening show. Cost is $12 in advance or $15 at the door for adults, or children/college $7 or $10 at the door. (Reserve seats by calling 507-376-9101). Enjoy a grilled burger feed from 4 to 7 p.m., featuring burgers, chips, cookies and a drink for just $5. Live entertainment will also be provided by Daisy Chain from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium Lobby.

October 11 - Fall Splendor Dinner
Enjoy a Fall Splendor Lutefisk and Swedish Meatballs dinner on Saturday, October 11th. Seatings will be available at noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. Tickets are available online and through the mail with completed form (found at gracemankato.org) and a SASE until September 28 and in the church office (Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. – office, back door) through Friday, October 3. Pre-sale tickets are $16 adult, $8 age 6-12, until September 28, after adult tickets are $18. Tickets are free for five and under. It's all happening at Grace Lutheran Church of Mankato, MN – corner of 4th & Main in downtown Mankato. Limited number of tickets will be available at the door, walk-ins are welcome.
