Weekly "Bingo Night"
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.
Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Pipestone County Museum
Free Admission Saturdays, continuing through Memorial Day of 2013, features exhibits on the Pipestone Fire Department, Pipestone National Monument and Pipestone County Country Schools. Open hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pipestone County Museum.
December 3-5 - Christmas Tree Forest Fundraiser
View the Christmas Tree Forest on Tuesday, December 3 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Worthington First United Methodist church. Vote on your favorite tree with a free-will donation. Proceeds will help local families through Love INC. The closing award ceremony will be held Thursday, December 5th at 7:45 p.m.
December 4 - Lutefisk Supper
The Lakefield Bethlehem Lutheran Church is offering a lutefisk supper on Wednesday, December 4th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Adults are $14 with children under 12 $7. To purchase your tickets in advance, call Jim at 507-841-0325. Tickets are also available at the door.
December 4 - Nobles County Library Holiday Open House
The Nobles County Library will host its annual holiday open house on Wednesday, December 4th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Start your holiday season out right; visit the library for coffee, punch and homemade treats!
December 5 - Dayton House Wine Tasting
Try something new with some lovely holiday wines, which will be offered with delectable food pairings to include appetizers, main course, and delightful desserts in this popular Wine Tasting event on December 5th at 7 p.m at the Dayton House! Tickets are $20 in advance and must be purchased at the Worthington Liquor Store prior to the event.
December 5-6 - Christmas at Pioneer Village
Visit Pioneer Village on Thursday, December 5th and Friday, December 6th from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. for the 24th Annual Old-Fashioned Christmas at Pioneer Village. We’ll have music and entertainment all over the Village, snack and bake sale items, and even a visit from Santa! Reading Bus Lines will be conducting a free Tour of Lights around the community starting at 6:45 p.m. both Thursday and Friday. Guests will also be able to take part in horse-drawn hay rides both nights. $5.00 admission to Pioneer Village or free for NCHS Members.
December 6 - 1st Annual Parade of Lights
Join in the Holiday Spirit of Fulda's 1st Annual Parade of Lights on Friday, December 6th. Visit Santa at Antonios from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. (bring your camera if you want photos) and enjoy the Parade of Lights beginning at 6:30 p.m. Family movies and activities at the Fulda High School will follow the parade, with hot chocolate and holiday goodies served.
December 6-7 - Luverne's Winterfest
It's Winterfest in Luverne Friday, December 6th through the 7th! Friday features wine and beer tasting, cribbage tournament, music by Monroe Crossing, and the Winterfest family feud. Then Saturday, it's the Winterfest Arts and Crafts show, Santa's workshop, a 5K run, a live band and dance and more. December 7 - Slayton Cookie Sale
Come purchase goodies and crafts at the Cookie Sale on December 7th from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Slayton Trinity Lutheran Church. Rolls and coffee will be served.
December 7 - Singles Dance
The Lake Benton Center Post will be the location for a singles dance on December 7th from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Music will be provided by Mark and Len. Funds raised go towards Beginning Experience of Southwest Minnesota.
December 7 - Annual "Opry Christmas"
The Jackson Kiwanis Club invites you to the Fifth Annual Opry Christmas Country Music Show, featuring The Opry All-Star Band and eight special guest artists! It's all happening Saturday, December 7th at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets for reserved seating are available by calling 507-847-3891
December 8 - Scandinavian Dinner
You're invited to a lutfisk and meatball dinner on December 8th at the Worthington First Lutheran Church. Two separate serving times are available, either at 2:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. and each includes lefse, green beans, giftas, potatoes, rice pudding, and Scandinavian cookies. Tickets are $14 in advance or $4 for those 16 years old and younger. Tickets are available at Ax Photo and Hy Vee or at the door; you can also order your tickets from the church at 507-376-6148.
December 8 - Runnings Friends & Family Event
Runnings will be hosting a friends & family event on Sunday, December 8th from 5 – 9 p.m. storewide sales on sporting goods, clothing, tools, toys, pet, auto and much more! 20% clothing and footwear and 10% all other merchandise
December 8 - Alb's & Friends Christmas Celebration
Alb’s & Friends have put on a Christmas Concert and Community Celebration for over 16 years. Join them for their final performance at the Memorial Auditorium on December 8th at 3:30 p.m. This event is open to the public. Free will donation will go to the Community Christmas Baskets.
December 8 - Soup with Santa
Come enjoy "Soup with Santa" on Sunday, December 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Reading Community Center. Bring your camera and the kids and join them for fun, food, and fellowship!
December 10 - Rock-Nobles Drug Court Grad Ceremony

December 11 - Christmas at the Historic Dayton House
It's Christmas at the Historic Dayton House! Come admire the elegance of the Dayton House decorated in holiday splendor as you tour each room and imagine the holidays in years past! Enjoy a festive dessert with coffee or cider. Doors will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $8 per person
December 12 - Hy-Vee Meal Solutions
Your Hy-Vee Meal Solutions has returned. Join them in the club room on December 12th where you will prepare eight entrees to feed your busy family. This class will be from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and will be treated as an “open house”. Signup sheet will be at customer service. Tickets must be purchased by Tuesday, December 10th, 2013. There will be no walk-ins accepted. Must present event ticket upon entry. To pre-register, please visit customer service. Remember to signify which meal option you will be preparing and what time you will be attending class. Cost for the meal options are cozy meal option (2-3 people) for $65.00 or family meal option (4-6 people) for $120.00.
December 12 - Hospital Auxuiliary Christmas Fundraiser
The Hospital Auxiliary Christmas Cookie sale will be held Thursday, December 12 by the hospital cafeteria from 11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. and 2:30 – 4 p.m. Members – please bring cookies by 8:30 a.m. on the 11th to the Auxiliary Room. Christmas tea will be held from 2:30 – 4 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria for hospital and all clinics staff.
December 13 - MNWest Culture Corner
Come to the Culture Corner, as presented by Minnesota West at the Worthington Campus, from 5 to 8 p.m. A $10.00 donation to the Minnesota West Foundation will support scholarships for ethnically diverse students at the Worthington campus. For your donation you will be given a ticket (kids 14 & under free) that entitles you to experience holiday traditions of many cultures, sample holiday foods/drinks, and share in holiday fellowship. Holiday traditions are demonstrated through table decorations, pictures, host explanations, activities, samples of traditional foods/drinks, musical selections, and much more. December 17 - Community Forum
The Open Door Health Center invites you to participate in a community forum on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Area Learning Center (Large Gym), 117 11th Avenue. For your convenience, we have arranged two time slots for this event. Please choose the time that fits best with your schedule 2-3 p.m. or 6:30-7:30 p.m. The purpose of this forum is for you and your organization to discuss the health needs of the area, and to learn more about ODHC’s mobile medical and dental services and determine if there is need for our combined services to provide services in the area. December 19 - Sanford Relay for Life Fundraiser
The Sanford Worthington Relay for Life fundraiser will go on Thursday, December 19th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the hospital lobby. Come purchase delicious treats from the Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Company, such as trail mix, dried fruit and candies. 20% of sales will be donated to the team.
December 22 - Pipestone Live Nativity
The Pipestone Grace Lutheran Church invites you to check out their Live Nativity on December 22nd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be live actors, animal and music, along with a free-will chili supper and children's activities inside the church.
December 26 - Pipestone Library Annual Book Sale
The Pipestone Area Friends of the Library is hosting its annual book sale from December 26th through the 28th at the Meinders Community Library during regular library hours. A variety of books are available for purchase, from children to adult, hardcover and paperback books along with audio tapes. All proceeds benefit the library. For more information, call 507-825-6714.
