Weekly "Bingo Night"
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.
Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. To sign up, visit the City of Worthington Public Safety webpage.
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!
Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Junior Achievement Volunteers Needed
The Business Education Committee is still seeking volunteers to teach Junior Achievement. They are in need of (5) kindergarten volunteers, (4) first grade volunteers, (1) third grade volunteer and (1) fourth grade volunteer. April 21-24 - Real Estate Retrievers Food Drive
Real Estate Retrievers in Worthington and REALTORS Volunteer Across Minnesota are hosting a non-perishable food drive for the local food shelf now through Friday, April 24th. Drop off your non-perishable food items at the Real Estate Retrievers office in Worthington at 339 Oxford Street
April 22 - Worthington Hospital Auxiliary Masquerade Jewelry Sale
The Worthington Hospital Auxiliary Masquerade $5 Jewelry Sale will be on Wednesday, April 22nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital lobby. Everything is just $5! Funds go towards benefitting patients and visitors at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center.
April 22-May 6 - Worthington Annual Trash Pickup
Tags are available for purchase for the City of Worthington 2015 Annual Trash Pickup now through May 6th for $11 at City Hall, Worthington Public Utilities, the Chamber of Commerce, or Schaap Sanitation. Pickup service will begin on Monday, May 4th. Items may not be placed on the curb until Wednesday, April 29th. For more information, call 372-8650 or 376-9218.
April 22-25 - Nobles County Library Spring Book Sale
The Nobles County Library Spring Book Sale will run Wednesday, April 22nd through Saturday, April 25th. The book sale will be held in the Library conference room. Hours are 8-5 on Wednesday, Thursday 8-8, Friday 8-5 and Saturday 10-1.
April 23 - ARC Blood Drive
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the American Reformed Church in Worthington on Thursday, April 23rd from 1 to 7 p.m. For an appointment, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org. Walk-ins are always welcome. All donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of ice cream from Worthington's Dairy Queen, a rent one/get one movie free from Family Video, plus chocolate sundaes.
April 23 - Hy-Vee Market Café Spring Wine Tasting
Please join the Hy-Vee Market Café for a spring wine tasting featuring wines paired with entrée’s that are specially prepared to compliment your before dinner event, and every course of a meal from appetizer to dessert. The Market Café is excited to showcase their culinary talent along with a great dining experience. The Spring Wine Tasting will be held on Thursday, April 23rd at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are required for admission and are on sale for $20.00 per person at Worthington Liquor Store or Hy-Vee Market Café.
April 25 - Worthington Community Prayer Breakfast
The Worthington Community Prayer Breakfast will be on April 25th at 8 a.m. at the Worthington American Reformed Church. Speaker will be Paul Ten Haken. Tickets are available from the Chamber of Commerce, Avera Johnson Eye Clinic, Ax Photo, and from any Early Risers Kiwanis member.
April 24 - Arbor Day Celebration
Minnesota West Community & Technical Worthington Campus will host an Arbor Day Celebration at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 24th in partnership with the Worthington Chamber of Commerce and City of Worthington. The Arbor Day proclamation will be read at the softball field on the Worthington Campus by the intersection of Sundown and Lexington Ave. weather permitting. The proclamation will be followed by an Arbor Day tree planting with light refreshments to follow in the Commons. This event is free and open to the public. April 25 - FootGolf
FootGolf is a popular new sport that combines soccer and golf and Prairie View is excited to bring FootGolf to the area. Come out on April 25th, from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. to play the course for free! Staff will be there to answer any questions you have about this new sport. Flyers with information, rules and costs will also be available. Equipment you may need includes: your own soccer ball or Prairie View will provide one for you. Please no cleated soccer shoes. April 25 - Healthy Kids Day
It's the 2015 Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 25th! All kids and parents are invited to come to the Worthington YMCA for a play date and commit to being active every day! April 25 - Sioux County Oratorio Chorus Concert
Join the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus for its upcoming performance of Mozart’s Requiem Mass in D minor on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IA. Tickets for adults are $8 in advance/$10 at the door and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at Northwestern’s box office or the Dove Bookstore in Orange City, at True Vine or the Dordt music office in Sioux Center, and in Sheldon at Touch of Hope.
April 25 - Relay for Life Fundraiser
The Cancer Kickers are hosting a spaghetti feed fundraiser on Saturday, April 25th at 6 p.m. at the Last Call Saloon in George, Iowa. Cost is a free will donation with a $7 suggestion. All proceeds go to the Relay for Life of Lyon County.
April 26 - Pancake Breakfast Benefit
A pancake breakfast benefit for Ginny Diekmann Bertrand will be held at the Slayton St. Ann's Hall from 9 to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 26th. Serving includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and beverages for a free will donation.
April 28 - Weather Spotter Training
Weather spotter training will be offered at 7 p.m. at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Jackson campus. This training is intended for storm spotters or potential storm spotters, but is open to the public and free of charge. The class will last about two hours and will include a multimedia presentation.
April 28 - WMS Annual Band Instrument Display
The Worthington Middle School will hold the annual 4th grade band instrument display from 2:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28 in the Worthington Middle School Band Room. Adults can sign their child up for an instrument and summer band. Broken Note Instrument Repair will be available to rent an instrument and/or fix an existing instrument. Summer band instructions will take place at Worthington Middle School from June 1 until June 12.
April 29 - CAL "Walk In My Shoes" - A dementia Experience
Come take a walk in my shoes a dementia experience from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29th at the Center for Active Living. Speaker presentations will start at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $5.00. Call 376-6457 to register.
April 29 - CLA Estate Services Workshop
CLA Estate Services will be hosting a FREE workshop providing valuable information for seniors on securing one's estate and retirement planning. Guests will receive a workbook and gain useful information regarding: the pros and cons of wills and trusts; how to avoid probate; long term health care concerns; tax reduction planning. April 30 - Tax Abatement Program Meeting
Join WREDC for an update on Nobles Home Initiative (NHI) Housing Construction Tax Abatement Program. The purpose of this meeting is to provide a program refresher, report on NHI progress, and answer any questions you may have. April 30-May 2 - Rummage and Bake Sale
The Sanborn Christian School will host a rummage and bake sale event on Thursday, April 30th from 3 to 6 p.m. Stop in and shop a huge selection of clothing, housewares, and delicious baked goods! The sale event will also run Friday, May 1st from 9 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 2nd from 9 to noon (1/2 price day). The sale will be at the Sanborn Christian School gym at 405 W. 2nd Street in Sanborn.
May 1 - Worthington K-9 Fundraiser
Meet the K-9’s and get photographs with Mack and Thor on Friday, May 1st, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Elks Lodge, 1105 2nd Avenue. You will also have an opportunity to watch K-9 demonstrations and bid on silent auction items. There will also be a pork chop and baked potato feed for $5.00.
May 1-2 - First Lutheran Church Rummage Sale
The First Lutheran Church is hosting a Rummage Sale on Friday, May 1st from 8 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, May 2nd from 8 to 2 p.m. Stop and shop when you are hungry - they will also have BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, coney dogs, chips, and beverages for sale throughout the day on Friday. Saturday morning, stop for donuts and coffee, as well as the $2 bag sale starting at noon. Proceeds go to the First Lutheran Church youth for their summer mission trips.
May 3 - Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
The Round Lake Legion Pancake Breakfast will be held Sunday, May 3rd from 8 a.m. to noon. Serving includes all you can eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee and juice for a free will donation.

May 9 - Color Run
The Lakefield Immanuel Lutheran School invites you to its Color Run on Saturday, May 9th at Lakefield's North City Park Shelter. The run begins at 10 a.m. and concludes with lunch.

May 29 - Stargazing
Go Stargazing with Mike Lynch! Lynch, a broadcast meteorologist at WCCO Radio will be hosting an astronomy and stargazing class, along with a half hour of orientation of the night sky with maps and constellation diagrams provided. Cost is $10 for individuals, $25 for families. It's happening on Friday, May 29th at 9 to 11 p.m. at the Chatauqua Park Shelter House.
June 12 - UV Splash by the Color Dash
Get colorfied during the 2015 Windsurfing Regatta and Unvarnished Music Festival on Friday, June 12th with the UV Splash by the ColorDash!
