Weekly "Bingo Night"
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.
Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. To sign up, visit the City of Worthington Public Safety webpage.
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!
Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Worthington Farmers' Market
The Worthington Farmers Market is now in full swing. Shop for fresh, local produce and homemade goods on Tuesdays from 4 – 7 p.m. at the parking lot at Second Avenue and 10th Street in downtown Worthington and on Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Ace Hardware on Oxford Street. The market continues each week through the growing season. Stop by each week and see what is new!
Fall Harvest Food Drive
Sterling is inviting its local communities to help stock the shelves of local organizations in preparation for this year’s holiday season. Individuals dropping off a bag of non-perishable food items at their local Sterling location from Wednesday through Saturday will receive an exclusive Sterling coupon — 40 percent off on up to four gift or toy items — as a thank you for supporting the Fall Harvest Food Drive. In addition to collecting non-perishable food items, Sterling will donate $2 to local food shelves for each bag of donated canned goods — up to $500 per Sterling location.

It's Windom's Haunted Sghoul House at 1012 5th Avenue, featuring the scariest haunted house around (PG 13 rating). Enter 6 levels of horror at your own risk! Cost is $10 per person. For ticket information, contact the Windom BARC. The Haunted House will be open October 30-November 1st.
October 31 - Trunk 'n Treat
Trunk 'n Treat returns to the Luverne Main Street on Friday, October 31st from 4 to 5:30 p.m. A safe venue will be created for children from Freeman to McKenzie on Main, with Chamber Members handing out candy from their trunks. Find the list of participating businesses at www.luvernechamber.com.

The Worthington branch of the Fulda Area Credit Union will host a Halloween Trunk or Treat event for children. Scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the south parking lot of the credit union, the Trunk or Treat will feature numerous theme-decorated trunks and employees in costume.

Burger King will host a Trunk or Treat in its parking lot at the intersection of Oxford Street and Humiston Avenue. Planned from 5 to 7 p.m., the event will include four different decorated car trunks, treats for the kids and an inflatable bounce house and slide.

Worthington Christian Church is offering a Trunk or Treat event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday in its parking lot at 1501 N. Douglas Ave. Decorated cars will be filled with candy and treats for the children.

It's Kids' Fest at the Redwood Falls Assembly of God Church on Friday, October 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy fun for the whole family, such as the corn maze, free pumpkin patch photo, games, candy, prizes, plus delicious hot dogs, nachos and cheese, fresh apple cider just $.25! October 31 - Luis Brown-Pena Workshop
Have you ever thought about hiring an ex-offender? Luis Brown-Pena is coming to speak to the area employer groups in Worthington on October 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. above the library at MN West – Worthington Campus. Topics that will be covered include, Work Opportunity Tax Credit, Workforce Investment Act, Federal Bonding Program and High Morale.
October 31-November 2 - "Dracula" Performances
Minnesota West Community and Technical College Department of Theater presents Dracula October 31st (7:30), November 1st (7:30), and November 2nd (2:00). This adaptation is by Minnesota playwright Steven Dietz and restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker's classic novel to the stage. All performances will take place in the Fine Arts Theater on the Worthington Campus of Minnesota West. Tickets are available at the door a half hour before curtain ($6 Adults and $4 Students).
November 1- Comedy Show
A fantastic comedy show with 4 of Minnesota’s Funniest Comedians on Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at the Worthington Event Center. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., ShowTime is at 8:30 p.m. VIP reserved tickets are $25.00 (includes: priority seating with champagne, appetizers & dessert). November 1 - Scouting for Food Drive
Local Boy Scouts will collect food for the Scouting for Food drive Saturday. Bags are being distributed this week to area households. Residents are asked to place non-perishable food items inside the bag and leave them on their front doorstep by 9 a.m. Saturday. The items will be donated to the local food pantries. The Scouts will also collect used eyeglasses. Anyone who doesn’t receive a bag can contact Scott, 370-1024.
November 2 - Fish Boil
A Fish Boil will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Activity Center, Fifth and Bush streets, Lakefield. Enjoy fish, potatoes, cole slaw, homemade bread, assorted desserts and beverages. Cost is a free will donation with proceeds going towards the Orphan Grain Train.
November 2 - Soup & Dessert Dinner
The Lakefield Council of Catholic Women will have a Chili and Soup Supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 Broadway Ave. The menu will include chili, chicken noodle and broccoli soups, ham sandwiches, desserts and beverage.
November 2 - "Mom's Night Out"
“Mom’s Night Out” will be shown at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at the American Reformed Church, 1720 N. Burlington Ave. The movie is a true-to-life family comedy with a Christian message.
November 3 - Community Impact Night (Jose Rivera Fundraiser)
The Worthington Pizza Ranch is hosting a community impact night on Monday, November 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m., benefitting the family of Jose Rivera. Thrivent financial will match funds, and Pizza Ranch will be donating a portion of their sales, as well as any tips collected, to the family. This includes dine-in, carry-out, and delivery. November 5 - Social Media Breakfast
Social Media Breakfast is back in Worthington's BenLee's Cafe on Wednesday, November 5th. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. with the meeting from 8 to 9 a.m. This month's topic will focus on target audience, via speaker Neil Linscheid. November 5 - Soup Supper
The First Presbyterian Church of Little Rock will host a soup supper on Wednesday, November 5 from 5:00-7:00 at the Little Rock Town & Country Building. Chicken and chili soup will be served with ham sandwiches and pies and desserts. A freewill donation will be taken. An auction of a variety of items will be held at 7:00.
November 5 - United Way of Nobles County Telethon
The United Way of Nobles County Telethon returns to the Worthington High School on Wednesday, November 5th. Listen live on all of the Radio Works radio stations from 5-5:30 p.m., and then stay up to date on AM 730 KWOA and FM 104.3 The Party beginning at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy edibles from the Taste of Nobles County vendors, such as Hickory Lodge, Carol Elaine Cupcakes & Creations, Hy-Vee and more. A number of household vendors will also be on hand, such as Thirty-One, Celebrating Home and more. Entertainment will be provided by a Celebration Choir, the MN West Choir, and more throughout the night. Call-in donations and silent auctions will be going on, so keep your checkbook handy!
November 6 - Dayton House Holiday Extravaganza
The Historic Dayton House Holiday Extravaganza is on Thursday, November 6th from 3 to 8 p.m. Come enjoy a unique shopping experience with 18 vendors. Cost is $5 per person. Tickets can also be purchased at HyVee, Lakeshore Clips, and the Daily Apple. Wine, beer, and cheese will be available for a small fee.
November 6 - Lunchobox Lecture Series
The Murray County Historical Society Museum will be hosting a Lunchbox Lecture Series over the next few months, with the first event coming up on November 6. The lectures will be held from noon. to 1 p.m. in the Dinehart-Holt House in Slayton. Participants will bring their own lunch and the museum staff will set up tables and serve coffee. Cost for the lectures will be $3 with Murray County Historical Society members admitted for free. On November 6, the feature will be “Local Beekeeping and the Plight of Bees” by Richard Vanderziel , a local organic farmer and beekeeper. Vanderziel will present the history of bees and beekeeping in our area, the loss of bee colonies, and what everyone can do to help them recover from that loss. Participants will get a chance to taste honey from different parts of the country, including local honey.

The Wycliffe Associates Fall Banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. on November 8 (Saturday) at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, where the latest news and technology in Bible translation will be presented. November 8 - Heron Lake Fall Vendor & Craft Show
The Heron Lake Fall Vendor and Craft Show is coming up Saturday, November 8th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Heron Lake Community Center. Get your holiday shopping done early, with vendors such as Tastefully Simple, Jamberry Nails, the Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, and many more. Door prizes will be offered t most booths, with food and drinks available. There's no cost.
November 9 - Ashton Fire Department Breakfast Fundraiser
The Ashton Fire Department Annual Fundraiser will be held on November 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ashton Legion Hall. Serving includes delicious pancakes and sausage.
November 9 - "Gifts of Grace" Concert
Music ensembles from Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne are professionally producing a music CD, “Gifts of Grace.” A concert to preview the CD will be 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at the church. A free-will offering will be taken during the concert. Refreshments will be served after the concert, and orders for the CD will be taken. The CDs will be ready in early December.

The Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth invites you to its soup and pie supper on Sunday, November 9th from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Serving includes a variety of soup, BBQ, ham sandwiches, assorted pies and desserts, all for a free will offering. There will also be a raffle drawing.
November 9 - Annual Soup & Pie Dinner
The Lismore Presbyterian Church will host its annual soup and pie dinner and auction on November 9th at the American Legion Hall. The Country Store opens at 10:30 a.m. featuring many homemade baked goods, breads, cookies, pies, and gifting ideas. Dinner starts at 11 a.m., featuring four different soups and a variety of desserts. Plan to stay for the auction, which starts at 12:30 p.m. Buy chances for the big ticket prize from any church member! Cost for dinner is a free will donation.
November 12 - Turkey Supper
The St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lakefield invites you to its Turkey Supper on Wednesday, November 12th from 5 to 8 p.m. Serving includes turkey and all the trimmings! Cost is $10 for adults, children 6-10 $5 and children under 5 eat free.
November 13 - America Red Cross Blood Mobile
The American Red Cross Blood Mobile returns to the Worthington American Reformed Church on Thursday, November 13th from 1 to 7 p.m. Donors receive a coupon for a free pint of ice cream from Worthington's Dairy Queen, with homemade pumpkin pie served as well. November 22 - "Evening with the Stars"
Join us for an Evening with the Stars on Saturday, November 22nd at the Minnesota West Worthington Campus. This is a fundraiser for student scholarships. A dinner starts at 6 p.m. at the Minnesota West commons, with a silent auction and entertainment to follow. Cost is $20 per person or $100 for a table of six. December 2-4 - Love INC Christmas Tree Forest
The 4th Annual Christmas Tree Forest returns, as presented by Love in the Name of Christ of Worthington. Organizations/businesses provide a decorated Christmas tree with a theme of their choice, with viewing at the First United Methodist Church. Deadline to register is Wednesday, November 12th. December 7 - Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner
You're invited to a Lutefisk and Meatball dinner on Sunday, December 7th at the Worthington First Lutheran Church.
