Weekly "Bingo Night"
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.
Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Pipestone County Museum
Free Admission Saturdays, continuing through Memorial Day of 2013, features exhibits on the Pipestone Fire Department, Pipestone National Monument and Pipestone County Country Schools. Open hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pipestone County Museum.
Manna Food Pantry "FoodShare Campaign"
Now through March 31 - The Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign is on! "Be a Hero, Fight Hunger." The goal of Manna Food Pantry is 75,000 combined pounds and dollars. Consider contributing today! Volunteers are also very much appreciated for Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. Consider donating some of your time to those in need. Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!
Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.
March 7 - Fish Fry
The Knights of Columbus Fish Fry will be held Friday, March 7th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Worthington Elks Lodge. Serving includes deep-fried fish, baked potato, beans, cole slaw, assorted salads, breads, coffee and water.
March 7 - Student Art Show
Support local High School students by attending the “Student Art Show” opening reception on Friday, March 7th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Nobles County Art Center in the basement of the Nobles County Library. You will be able to view the amazing artworks created by local High School Students and enjoy free refreshments. The exhibit will hang until March 27th. Gallery hours are 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
March 8 - Fun Time Dance
Come to a Brewster Fun Time Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight at the American Legion in Brewster. Music will be by Norgard Duo, with line dancing and couples welcome. Any questions, contact Arnie at 507-380-3777.
March 8 - KTD Past-times Viewing
On March 8th, the Nobles County Historical Society will be bringing in digital films from past Turkey Day Events for viewing, such as films from when Nixon and Robert Kennedy were the featured speakers. It starts at 7:00 p.m. at the CAL. Pop and popcorn will be served, with the event free and open to the public.
March 9 - Music Concert
The Valley Male Chorus of Rock Valley, Iowa will be presenting a sacred music concert on Sunday evening, March 9th at the Edgerton Bethel Christian Reformed Church starting at 6:30 p.m. A freewill offering will be taken for the benefit of persons with disabilities receiving services at Hope Haven.
March 9 - Prairie Star Ministries' Youth Group Fundraiser
Come to the Dundee First Lutheran Church for a baked potato, silent auction and shoe collection fundraiser via the Prairie Star Ministries' Youth Group in their efforts to raise funds for a summer mission trip on March 9th, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Help out by donating your gently used shoes, donating items, or simply come check out the silent auction and give during the potato feed!
March 10 - Charlie Albright: Pianist in Concert
The Worthington Concert Association is bringing pianist Charlie Albright to the Memorial Auditorium on Monday, March 10th at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by season ticket only.
March 13 - Wine Tasting
The Historic Dayton House is hosting another fantastic wine tasting event on Thursday, March 13th beginning at 7 p.m. Try some lovely wines, which will be offered with delectable food pairings to include appetizers, main course, and delightful desserts. Tickets are $20 apiece and must be purchased at the Worthington Liquor store in advance.
March 13 - USD Chamber Singers Tour
The University of South Dakota Chamber Singers will be stopping at the Worthington Christian Church as part of the choir's annual spring tour, on Thursday, March 13th at 7 p.m.
March 14 - CAL Ethnic Supper Club
The CAL is featuring a monthly ethnic supper club! On March 14, the featured culture will be Ireland. Come expand your knowledge about this culture and taste, and sample the food and beverages in a fun social setting. Cost includes cultural presentation, displays, and full meal with non-alcoholic beverages. Must be registered by March 7th. Cost is $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers.
March 15 - Annual Dundee Rod & Gun Club Raffle
The 63rd Annual Dundee Rod & Gun Club Mullligan Stew Raffle is going on now! Raffle tickets are $1 apiece and features a Mossberg 12 gauge for 1st place, Mossberg 20 for 2nd, a Savage Rifle 17 ca. for 3rd, plus a Remington 870 20 gauge for a bonus raffle. Drawing will be held Saturday, March 15th. Need not be present to win.
March 15 - Their Fundraiser

March 15 - Wild Turkey Shootout
The Wild Turkey Shootout Tournament is back for another year, for both 4th through 9th grade. Cost is $150 per team. Contact the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce for registration forms and more information
March 15 - ABATE of Iowa District 8 Fundraiser
ABATE of Iowa District 8 is hosting its meeting and fundraiser at Division in Lake Park on March 15th. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with the casino night and auction to follow.
March 16 - Annual Chili Cookoff Fundraiser
It's the Annual Chili Cookoff fundraiser as presented by the Iowa First Responders and Iona Fire Department on Sunday, March 16th. Want to enter your chili? Call Kay at 507-264-3806. Serving starts at 10:30 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. with an assorted varieties of chili and soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, green beer and punch, and brownie a la mode for dessert! Cost is a free will donation with raffle drawing and door prizes given away. Be sure to head to the St. Columba Hall in Iona Sunday, March 16th!
March 18 - "Everything Fitz" Presentation

A Men's Lenten Breakfast will be held March 19th at the Sibley St. Andrew's Catholic Church. This breakfast begins at 6:30 a.m. with devotions to follow. A free will offering will be taken, with a $4 suggestion.
March 20 - CAL Arts & Crafts Day
Head to the Center for Active Living on March 20th at 1 p.m. for an arts-and-crafts day! This session will feature homemade candles. Register in advance by calling the CAL! Cost is $10 for members, or $15 for nonmembers.
March 22 - "Pushing the Limits" Book Series
The Ashton Public Library Presents: "Pushing the Limits," a reading viewing and discussion series which will kick off at the Ashton Public Library on Saturday, March 22nd at 1 p.m. Each section will focus on the topics of nature, connection, survival and knowledge and will include a book discussion and the viewing of two short videos. A light lunch will be served and the participants will receive a free copy of all four books: "When the killings done" by TC.Boyle, "Thunderstruck " by Eric Larson, :Artic Drift: by Clive cluster, and "The land of the painted caves" by Jean M Auel. March 22 - Two-Wheel Trauma Class

March 22 - Brewster Fire Department Dance
The Brewster Fire Department Relief Association dance will be held Saturday, March 22nd at the Brewster American Legion from 8 p.m. until midnight. Music will be provided by Starfire. Cost is a free-will donation
March 23 - Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
The youth of First Lutheran Church of Worthington will be doing a Elk’s Pancake breakfast March 23rd. It will be from 8 am until 1:00 p.m. Cost is $7 adults, $4 youth. Proceeds go towards mission trip funding.
March 25 - Developing Employee Handbooks Workshop
The "Why's and How's of Developing Employee Handbooks" workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25h from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Worthington University of Minnesota Extension Regional Office. The cost for this workshop is $15 for Southwest Minnesota Farm Business Management Association members and $25 per person for non-association members. March 28 - Annual YMCA Cruise Dinner
The YMCA is hosting its 29th Annual Cruise Dinner on Friday, March 28th at the Worthington Event Center. A social starts at 5 p.m., along with a cash bar and silent and live auction. Food serving begins at 6:30 .m. with entertainment to follow from 8 to 11 p.m. via the Johnny Holm Band. A raffle drawing will take place during the intermission, with prizes ranging from $100 to a $2000 vacation. March 31 - Nobles County Corn/Soy Growers Annual Meeting
The Nobles County Corn & Soybean Growers Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the American Reformed Church, Worthington. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., ribeye dinner at 6:00 p.m. and speaker and annual meeting to follow. Guest speaker Lance Baumgard, born and raised in Round Lake, MN and now a Animal Science Professor at Iowa State University, “The Misconceptions of Animal Food Products.” Cost for the Annual meeting is $10.00 pre-sale ($15.00 at the door). March 31 - Culture Corner Presentation
The many faces of Worthington revealing the lives of community members: their histories, journeys, as they live here now, and their challenges as well. In this program you will learn from one another. As they capture your heart you will help to make and maintain the history that makes Worthington what it is today: “A Special Place” where everyone has a story! The YMCA is hosting its Annual Girls Night Pajama Party on Friday, April 4th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Worthington YMCA. Come to enjoy a night of hair styling, nail painting, games, and swimming! Be sure to bring pajamas, a swim suit, towel and pillow. All girls in 2nd through 4h grade are invited out! Contact the YMCA for questions and an event schedule. April 5 - Southwest Crisis Center Fundraiser
The Southwest Crisis Center celebrates its 30th year of helping victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence. To acknowledge those who have contributed to the mission of the Southwest Crisis Center over the past year, recipients of the annual Faces of Hope award will be honored during a special event April 5th at BenLee’s Café in Worthington. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the presentation and a dance. Tickets for the event are $35 per person, and there will be a 50/50 raffle and a cash bar. All money raised will help fund direct services to victims and children of domestic and sexual abuse in southwest Minnesota
April 6 - Lutheran Laymen's League Spring Rally

Start thinking about registering for the YMCA's 2nd Color Dash 5K event coming up Saturday, June 7th. Packet pickup will start at 8 a.m. with the Dash starting at 10 a.m. (at the corner of 10th street and 2nd avenue). Registration is now open!
