Weekly "Bingo Night"
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.
Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!
Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Sioux County Oratio Chorus
Do you enjoy singing fine choral music? Would you like to be part of a top-notch group of area musicians? Then join the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus for this year’s season, beginning Tuesday, January 13! This year we will be singing Mozart's Requiem at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Alton on Saturday, April 25. Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Dordt College band room. Winterfest Snow Queen/Snow Princess
Do you or someone you know love winter? Apply for the Winterfest Snow Queen or Snow Princess! The Winterfest Snow Queen & Snow Princess will be ambassadors for Worthington at various community events throughout the year. You must be a sophomore or junior in high school to apply for Snow Queen or between the ages of 4 – 10 years old to apply for Snow Princess and you must love winter!! A prize will be awarded to both the Snow Queen & Snow Princess. Applications are due by January 16, 2015. December 21 - Pancake Benefit
A Pancake Benefit for Pastor Arlen and LaVonne Foss is scheduled for Sunday, December 21st, at American Lutheran Church in Worthington. Pancakes and sausages will be served from 11:15-2:00 in the Fellowship Hall. All proceeds will be used to help defer LaVonne’s health care costs and Arlen’s medical costs incurred during his battle with esophageal cancer.
December 21 - Live Nativity
The Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne is hosting a live nativity from 5 to 7 p.m. Witness live actors, animals and music outside and enjoy a free-will spaghetti supper inside. For more information, call the church at 507-283-4431 or online at www.gracelutheran.org.
December 21 - Story Time with Santa
Come for Story Time with Santa on Sunday, December 21st at 1 and 3 p.m. at the Worthington Memorial Auditorium. Each story time will be followed by photo opportunities with Santa.
December 21-22 - PPT Postcards (featuring Worthington Windsurfing Regatta)
On Sunday, December 21 at 7:00 p.m., Pioneer Public Television will broadcast a special episode of Postcards featuring the Worthington Windsurfing Regatta and Unvarnished Music Festival. This will be the second episode in the Postcards sixth season. The award winning Postcards is a weekly art, culture and history program featuring the people and communities of western and southwestern Minnesota. The 30-minute episode will be repeated on Monday, December 22nd at 1:30 p.m. and on Thursday, December 25 at 7:00 p.m. The program will also be available for online viewing after December 22nd through the station’s web site: www.pioneer.org/postcards.
December 27 - Oromo Community Celebration
The Oromo Community would like to extend an invitation to you and your spouse to attend this celebration with music, dancing, and many types of food available. Please come and help them celebrate their many cultural traditions on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Eagles Club, 205 Oxford Street, Worthington from 8:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.
December 31 - New Year's Party
The Worthington Event Center, Comfort Suites and RadioWorks are sponsoring 70’s & 80’s Classic Rock Band, SideLine on Wednesday, December 31st from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 on December 31st. Doors open at 8 p.m. Receive complimentary tap beer, wine, soda, hor d’oeuvres, party favors, photo booth. Book a room at the Comfort Suites for $149 and receive 2 tickets!
December 31 - The Chipper Experience
On New Year's Eve, head to the Memorial Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. for the Chipper Experience, where comedy and magic collide. This is an all ages show, and plenty of fun for the whole family! January 4 - Pancake Breakfast
The Luverne American Legion is hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday, January 4th. Serving goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Legion building.
January 10 - The Space School Musical
Dakota Players presents the Space School Musical on January 10th at 2 p.m. at the Worthington Memorial Auditorium. Cost is $8 for adults, children/college $4, family $20. For more information, call 507-376-9101. Auditions for students K-12 will be held on January 5th (call the Community Education to register in advance at 507-376-6105).
January 30-31 - Winterfest
Worthington’s Winterfest will be held on January 30th & 31st. The event will kick off Friday evening at the Worthington Event Center for the 2nd Annual Red Hot Chili Cook-off! Entry fee is free with receipts of chili supply purchases from designated store OR $150.00 without receipts. Each registrant will be given Hy-Vee or Fareway to purchase their chili supplies from. Business, organizations & individuals teams are welcome! Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. Also, people’s choice and most creative booth voted by the public! Challenge last years’ winners: Heath Kruse, Andy Johnson & RadioWorks Radio Station! For cook-off details or to register contact the Worthington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau at 507-372-2919. April 11 - YMCA Cruise Dinner
Save the date for the 30th YMCA Cruise Dinner on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Worthington Event Center. “Cell Phone – Tech Friendly” Silent Auction, Dinner and Entertainment.
