ONGOING EVENTS

Weekly "Bingo Night" 
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.

Divorce Care
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.  Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.

Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Senior Dances
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!

Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Free Dental Implants
Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Donations for this unique and one of a kind service can be made at any Wells Fargo bank in the state of Minnesota. For more information please call 763-202-4700 thats 763-202-4700. November 21 - Worthington Holiday Parade

The Worthington Holiday Parade is rapidly approaching on Friday, November 21st. Businesses and organizations are invited to have an entry, with no cost! All entries are encouraged to use lights in some form. Entries will be judged in two categories - commercial and non-commercial. For more information or to sign up, call 507-372-2919.

November 21 - Pork Chop Fundraiser
St. Mary's Knights of Columbus is hosting a fundraiser on Friday, November 21st at the Elks Lodge. Serving goes from 5 to 8 p.m. includes grilled pork chops, baked potatoes, corn, cole slaw, applesauce and more. Cost is $10 per person, with proceeds going towards St. Mary's KC endeavors.

November 21 - Free Family Movie Showing "Holiday Snow"
A new family-friendly movie will be shown at various local sites throughout the year. Free popcorn and water will be served. Bring blankets, friends, and family for a good time of fellowship. Donations will be accepted to help neighbors in need through the ministry of Love In the Name of Christ. Their first show will be immediately after the Holiday Parade: “Holiday Snow” is the movie that will be shown on November 21st at 7:15 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

November 21-22 - Christmas House Walk
The Christmas House Walk will be held on Friday, November 21st, from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 22nd from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tickets/donations of $10.00 per person are available at the following locations: Hy-Vee, McCarthy’s Floral, Sterling Drug, Worthington Chamber of Commerce, Decadent Décor and Sanford Worthington Medical Center Gift Shop. All proceeds benefit Hospice Cottage Inc.

November 21-22 - Nativity Experience
Come enjoy a nativity experience as its the Seventh Annual Display, with over 300 nativity sets at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Come see the different ways the Christmas story is represented, and enjoy coffee, cider, and Christmas goodies. Cost is $5, with a number of different viewing times available: Friday from 1 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10-4 p.m.

November 21-23 - "A Christmas Story"
The Green Earth Players proudly present "A Christmas Story" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Luverne Palace Theatre. This is a holiday comedy, based on a book by Jean Shepherd. For more information, call 507-283-8294.

November 22 - "Evening with the Stars"
Join us for an Evening with the Stars on Saturday, November 22nd at the Minnesota West Worthington Campus. This is a fundraiser for student scholarships. A dinner starts at 6 p.m. at the Minnesota West commons, with a silent auction and entertainment to follow. Cost is $20 per person or $100 for a table of six. November 22 - Holiday Craft Bazaar
Shop at the Holiday Craft Bazaar on Saturday, November 22nd at the Fulda High School gym from 9 to 2 p.m. Choose from over 50 vendors and get your Christmas shopping done early! Cost is free, with lunch available for a small fee.

November 22 - Vendor & Craft Show
Enjoy a Vendor and Craft Show Saturday, November 22nd from 10 to 4 p.m. at the Tap in Downtown Worthington (cash and carry). There will be many vendors to choose from including Celebrating Home, Tastefully Simple, IT Works, Jamberry Nails, and more! Enjoy music by DJ Jayden Thomas as well.

November 22 - MNSure Workshop
Are you eligible for MNSure? Come to Good Will in Worthington on Saturday, November 22nd. A navigator will be available to help with applications throughout the day, from 9 to 5 p.m. For more information, visit MNsure.org.

November 26 - Turkey Trot Hike
The Dickinson County Nature Center is hosting a Turkey Trot hike at 1 and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26th. Hikers will stop at various stations to learn about turkeys, with the event wrapping up with a craft and snack. November 27 - Community Thanksgiving Dinner
The 2014 Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Thursday, November 27th at First Lutheran Church. All area residents are invited to attend. Serving goes from noon to 1:15 p.m. Take-out or delivery is available by calling Terry at 507-227-1539. If you would like to volunteer, please arrive to the church by 8 a.m. to begin work. General clean-up volunteer work starts at 1:15 p.m.

November 27 - Thanksgiving Day 5k Fun Run/Walk
The 5th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5k Fun Run/Walk is taking place Thanksgiving Day morning at Sanford Westbrook Medical Center. No registration is required and there is no cost to participate. Each participant receives a t-shirt and socks. Please bring donations and items for the Mary and Martha Pantry for your entry fee.

December 2-4 - Love INC Christmas Tree Forest
The 4th Annual Christmas Tree Forest returns, as presented by Love in the Name of Christ of Worthington. Organizations/businesses provide a decorated Christmas tree with a theme of their choice, with viewing at the First United Methodist Church. December 4 - Monroe Crossing

December 4 - Historic Dayton House Holiday Wine Event
The Historic Dayton House invites you for a holiday wine event on Thursday, December 4th at 7 p.m. This event will feature wines from Italy, plus a guest appearance by Todd Vigor. Cost is $20 per person. Purchase tickets at the Worthington Liquor Store to reserve your spot (spots are limited!).

December 4-5 - Community Christmas Baskets
Community Christmas Baskets rely on the support of the community and will be collecting donated items at the American Reformed Church in Worthington on Thursday, December 4th from 8 to 10 a.m. Distribution will be held on Friday, December 5th. December 5-6 - Luverne's Winterfest
Luverne's Winterfest kicks off Friday, December 5th with a puppet show story hour at 10 a.m. at the Library, followed by the display of Festival of Trees from 1-5, wine and beer tasting from 4:30 p.m. to close at the Blue Mound Liquor Store, and a Holiday Jam with the Hegg Brothers at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, enjoy the arts and crafts show from 9 to 3 p.m. at the Luverne Public School gym., a 5K run, more wine and beer tasting, a dance and more. December 5-7 - Holiday Fest
It's a Candy Land Christmas during the Holiday Fest in Jackson! A holiday gala kicks off Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Golf Course, with a full day of events on Saturday. The 6th will feature a gingerbread house contest, ice skating, visit with Santa, free swimming, Christmas bingo, a lighted parade and fireworks. December 6 - Opry All-Star Band
Enjoy a Grand Ole Opry-Style country music show, featuring the Opry All-Star Band and special guest artists on Saturday, December 6th at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Jackson County Central Performing Arts Center. December 6 - 2nd Annual Parade of Lights
It's Christmas season during Fulda's 2nd Annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 6th! Santa will be greeting children at Antonios from 4 to 5:45 p.m., then it's the parade beginning at 6 p.m. The route starts at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and ends after the Community Center. December 7 - Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner
You're invited to a Lutefisk and Meatball dinner on Sunday, December 7th at the Worthington First Lutheran Church. Two separate serving times are offered; 2:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. Enjoy lefse, green beans, giftas, potato, rice pudding and more! Advance tickets are $14 for adults, $4 for those 16 years and under. December 12 - Culture Corner: Celebrations Around the World
Culture Corner is bringing Celebrations Around the World back to Minnesota West Community & Technical College on Friday, December 12th, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A $10 donation to the MN West Foundation will support scholarships for ethnically diverse students at the Worthington Campus. For your donation you will be given a ticket that entitles you to experience holiday traditions of many cultures, sample holiday foods/drinks, and share in holiday fellowship. Holiday traditions are demonstrated through table decorations, pictures, host explanations, activities, samples, musical selections and mush more!
