Weekly "Bingo Night" 
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.

Divorce Care
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.  Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.

Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Senior Dances
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!

Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Free Dental Implants
Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Sioux County Oratio Chorus
Do you enjoy singing fine choral music? Would you like to be part of a top-notch group of area musicians? Then join the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus for this year’s season, beginning Tuesday, January 13! This year we will be singing Mozart's Requiem at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Alton on Saturday, April 25. Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Dordt College band room. November 26 - Turkey Trot Hike

The Dickinson County Nature Center is hosting a Turkey Trot hike at 1 and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26th. Hikers will stop at various stations to learn about turkeys, with the event wrapping up with a craft and snack. For more information, contact the Center at 712-336-6352 or go online to

November 26 - Thanksgiving Eve Service
The Worthington Christian Church will have a Thanksgiving Eve service beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

November 27 - Community Thanksgiving Dinner
The 2014 Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Thursday, November 27th at First Lutheran Church. All area residents are invited to attend. Serving goes from noon to 1:15 p.m. Take-out or delivery is available by calling Terry at 507-227-1539. If you would like to volunteer, please arrive to the church by 8 a.m. to begin work. General clean-up volunteer work starts at 1:15 p.m.

November 27 - Thanksgiving Day 5k Fun Run/Walk
The 5th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5k Fun Run/Walk is taking place Thanksgiving Day morning at Sanford Westbrook Medical Center. No registration is required and there is no cost to participate. Each participant receives a t-shirt and socks. Please bring donations and items for the Mary and Martha Pantry for your entry fee.

November 28-29 - Nativity Experience
A Nativity Experience will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary St. The event will feature more than 300 Nativity sets. Coffee hot cider and Christmas goodies will be served. There is an admission fee. Anyone who has a Nativity set they are willing to share for the event should contact Marlis, 376-4756.

November 30 - Handbell Choir Festival
A Handbell Choir Festival, “Ringing Through the Church Year,” will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. The concert will feature three area handbell choirs and a handbell duet playing music to celebrate the changing seasons of the church year. Participating handbell choirs are from First Lutheran Church, Worthington; American Lutheran Church, Windom, and United Methodist Church, Sheldon, Iowa. The concert is free. Refreshments will follow the concert.


December 2-4 - Love INC Christmas Tree Forest
The 4th Annual Christmas Tree Forest returns, as presented by Love in the Name of Christ of Worthington. Organizations/businesses provide a decorated Christmas tree with a theme of their choice, with viewing at the First United Methodist Church. December 4 - Monroe Crossing
Enjoy the best in bluegrass and entertainment with Monroe Crossing on December 4th at the Lauridsen Performing Arts Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 for members, $22 for non-members, and $14 for students. Call the box office at 712-332-7029 or go to for ticket information.

December 4 - Historic Dayton House Holiday Wine Event
The Historic Dayton House invites you for a holiday wine event on Thursday, December 4th at 7 p.m. This event will feature wines from Italy, plus a guest appearance by Todd Vigor. Cost is $20 per person. Purchase tickets at the Worthington Liquor Store to reserve your spot (spots are limited!).

December 4-5 - Community Christmas Baskets
Community Christmas Baskets rely on the support of the community and will be collecting donated items at the American Reformed Church in Worthington on Thursday, December 4th from 8 to 10 a.m. Distribution will be held on Friday, December 5th. December 5-6 - Luverne's Winterfest
Luverne's Winterfest kicks off Friday, December 5th with a puppet show story hour at 10 a.m. at the Library, followed by the display of Festival of Trees from 1-5, wine and beer tasting from 4:30 p.m. to close at the Blue Mound Liquor Store, and a Holiday Jam with the Hegg Brothers at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, enjoy the arts and crafts show from 9 to 3 p.m. at the Luverne Public School gym., a 5K run, more wine and beer tasting, a dance and more. December 5-7 - Holiday Fest
It's a Candy Land Christmas during the Holiday Fest in Jackson! A holiday gala kicks off Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Golf Course, with a full day of events on Saturday. The 6th will feature a gingerbread house contest, ice skating, visit with Santa, free swimming, Christmas bingo, a lighted parade and fireworks. December 6 - Opry All-Star Band
Enjoy a Grand Ole Opry-Style country music show, featuring the Opry All-Star Band and special guest artists on Saturday, December 6th at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Jackson County Central Performing Arts Center. December 6 - WHS Choral Madrigal Dinner
Worthington High School (WHS) choral students will present a madrigal dinner event Saturday, Dec. 6. at BenLee’s Café in downtown Worthington. There will be two shows, one at noon and one at 6 p.m. Choir members will sing and entertain as the audience enjoys a full-service meal. December 6 - 2nd Annual Parade of Lights
It's Christmas season during Fulda's 2nd Annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 6th! Santa will be greeting children at Antonios from 4 to 5:45 p.m., then it's the parade beginning at 6 p.m. The route starts at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and ends after the Community Center. December 7 - Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner
You're invited to a Lutefisk and Meatball dinner on Sunday, December 7th at the Worthington First Lutheran Church. Two separate serving times are offered; 2:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. Enjoy lefse, green beans, giftas, potato, rice pudding and more! Advance tickets are $14 for adults, $4 for those 16 years and under. December 12 - Culture Corner: Celebrations Around the World
Culture Corner is bringing Celebrations Around the World back to Minnesota West Community & Technical College on Friday, December 12th, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A $10 donation to the MN West Foundation will support scholarships for ethnically diverse students at the Worthington Campus. For your donation you will be given a ticket that entitles you to experience holiday traditions of many cultures, sample holiday foods/drinks, and share in holiday fellowship. Holiday traditions are demonstrated through table decorations, pictures, host explanations, activities, samples, musical selections and mush more!
