Worthington man charged with criminal sexual conduct against granddaughterPublished by on
WORTHINGTON – Criminal sexual conduct charges were filed last week on Nobles County District Court against Kenneth Meyerdirk, age 68, of Worthington, according to court documents. Meyerdirk faces one first-degree and three second-degree counts, all of which stem from his alleged contact with a granddaughter that spanned several years.
The criminal complaint states all of the alleged contact occurred at Meyerdirk’s farm on Sundberg Avenue. The victim said she remembers the first incidents happening when she was in second grade, which would have been in 2000, and continued until she was approximately 11 years old. When the alleged sexual assault first started, the victim said the events did not seem out of the ordinary. It wasn’t until she got a bit older that she realized what was happening was not right.
During an interview, the victim, who is now an adult, related several events that took place during holidays and vacations at Meyerdirk’s farm. She described incidents of her grandfather touching her intimately and telling her it was OK, that her grandpa just wanted to spend time with her. She said he told her not to tell her grandmother or parents.
Meyerdirk is scheduled to make his first appearance on the charges later this month.
