Farm 40 on Us winners!Published by on
WORTHINGTON – Congratulations to Anita Elness of Windom and Jim Schettler of Wilmont, the two winners of the Radio Works Farm 40 on Us!
More than 30 finalists gathered Thursday night at the Travelodge in Worthington, hoping for a chance to win everything they need to plant 40 acres of corn or soybeans. New Vision, Croplan and Winfield will give them the seed, nutrients and field monitoring to farm 40 acres – Elness of corn and Schettler of beans. The sponsors will also help them put a plan together so they can come with optimum yield.
All of the finalists were chosen from boxes at 16 local businesses. Each name was placed in an envelope and set on a table. The envelopes were shuffled, and two were pulled out.
When those names were plucked off the table and announced by Radio Works General Manager/Owner Chad Cummings, Schettler said he almost fell off his chair. Elness admitted she swallowed her coughdrop when Cummings read her name.
Schettler signed up for the Farm 40 on Us promotion at Veterinary Medical Center, Elness at The Shed.
Other sponsors of the event include Graham Tire, Co-op Energy Company, Ag Builders, State Farm, First State Bank Southwest, Veterinary Medical Center and Prairie Livestock Supply, Jaycox Implement, Brewster Heating and Cooling, Worthington Ag Parts, The Shed, Carl’s Farm Store, Avoca Spray Service, Nobles County Implement, Murray County Implement, and Rolling Hills Bank and Trust.
