A number of area wrestlers began their tournament run at the Iowa State Wrestling Tournament on Thursday. Here are the Thursday results

Class 1A:
At 103 pounds: 10^th seeded Treyton Virtue of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock lost in the opening round by pinfall in 47 seconds to 7^th seeded Dylan Muckey of Woodbury Central.  Virtue won his wrestleback match against 2^nd seeded Logan Johnson of Aplington-Parkersburg by pinfall in 1:17 and advances in the wrestlebacks tomorrow.  Will wrestle the loser of the Friday matchup between Ryan Szalat of Fort Dodge St. Edmond and Craig Rice of Southwest Iowa.

At 126 pounds: 6^th seeded Colby McIntire of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock lost in the opening round by a 16-0 technical fall to Travis Cole of Highland, Riverside.  McIntire won his wrestleback match against 14^th seeded Zach Vance of Griswold by an 8-4 decision and advance in the wrestlebacks tomorrow.  Will wrestle the loser of the Friday matchup between Shane Poppins of Aplington-Parkersburg and Sawyer Amling of Edgewood-Colesburg.

At 182 pounds: 6^th seeded Dylan Brockshus of Sibley-Ocheyedan won his opening round matchup against Ty Robertson of Lone Tree by a 16-4 major decision.  Brockshus advances in the winner’s bracket where he will face 3^rd seeded Jesse Svoboda of Audubon in a State Quarterfinal Friday morning

Class 2A:
At 120 pounds: 5^th seeded Doug Miner of Spirit Lake Park won by pinfall in 55 seconds over 12^th seeded Dillon Cox of Atlantic in the opening round.  Miner will now face 14^th seeded Charlie Jones of Waterloo Columbus Catholic in a State Quarterfinal Friday afternoon

At 138 pounds: 3^rd seeded Zach Skopec of Spirit Lake Park won by pinfall in 1:33 over 14^th seeded Tyler Nance of Chariton in the opening round.  Skopec will now wrestle 6^th seeded Eric Clarke of Davenport Assumption in a State Quarterfinal Friday afternoon

At 145 pounds: 15^th seeded Kenten Murray of Spirit Lake Park lost by pinfall in 2:44 to 2^nd seeded Zach Muller of West Delaware, Manchester in the opening round.  In the wrestlebacks, Murray lost by pinfall in 1:48 to 7^th seeded Patrick Rooney of Bondurant-Farrar and was eliminated.

At 170 pounds: 10^th seeded Toby Maggert of Sheldon/South O’Brien lost by technical fall 15-0 to 7^th seeded Cash Wilcke of Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove in the opening round.  In the wrestlebacks, Maggert won by pinfall in 3:38 over 2^nd seeded Izaak Shedenhelm of Denver-Tripoli.  Maggert will wrestle in the wrestleback Friday afternoon.

At 220 pounds: 3^rd seeded Bryce Kelleher of Sheldon/South O’Brien won by pinfall in 3:25 over 14^th seeded Dylan Nelson of ADM, Adel in the opening round.  Kelleher will now face #15 seeded Skyler Hulshizer of St. Ansgar/Riceville in a State Quarterfinal Friday afternoon
