2 Minnesota West Bluejay Football Players have earned Player of the Week honors from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.
Reuben Linton II has once again been named the MCAC’s Southern Division Offensive Player of the Week, the 3rd time he has earned that honor this season. Linton rushed for 138 yards on 13 carries and scored 3 touchdowns in the Bluejays 27-7 win over MSCTC-Fergus Falls on Saturday. Linton, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, has rushed for 800 yards this season on just 95 carries for an average of 8.4 yards per carry and leads all of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference with 14 rushing touchdowns.
Minnesota West sophomore linebacker Cha’Ron Thompson has been named the MCAC’s Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week. Thompson, from Omaha, Nebraska, picked up 10 tackles (5 solo), 4.5 quarterback sacks and forced a fumble in the Bluejays’ victory over the Spartans. Thompson has collected 49 tackles on the season.
The Minnesota West Bluejays are 5-2 on the season and have clinched a playoff spot in the MCAC Playoffs. Minnesota West will wrap up the regular season when they host the Rochester Yellowjackets at Trojan Field on Saturday at 1:30pm.
