Jalen Voss earns NAIA All-American Honors


Fresh off leading Dakota Wesleyan Men's basketball team to their best season in school history, the honors have begun to come in for former Worthington Trojan Jalen Voss.

Voss was recently named a NAIA Division II All-American First Team selection. It is the 3rd time in his career that Voss has earned All-American honors. He was an All-American Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore and as a junior Voss was selected to the All-American Third Team. Voss was a Great Plains Athletic Conference First Team selection and GPAC Player of the Year in his senior season.

Lady Jays fall in final game of the season


For the Minnesota West Lady Jays, Saturday’s 4th place game against Mesabi Range was a culmination of Thursday and Friday.

Both teams were a little slow in getting out of the gate as the game was tied 8-8 early on before the Lady Jays took flight. Minnesota West looked like they did on Friday, a team that could not be stopped, as the Lady Jays would go on a 12-0 run to take a 20-8 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half. Lady Jays bounce back in a big way at NJCAA National Tournament


What a difference a day can make.

After struggling in their National Quarterfinal loss to Mohawk Valley on Thursday, the Minnesota West Lady Jay Basketball team bounced back in a major way, picking up a win over Nassau Community College (NY) by a score of 86-48. Minnesota West jumped out to a fast start, leading 12-4 in the first 5:40 of the game. The Lady Jays would continue to play well on both sides of the floor on their way to a 43-22 lead at halftime.

Minnesota West Lady Jay Basketball Head Coach Mike Fury said his team was running uphill all game in their National Quarterfinal against Mohawk Valley (NY) on Thursday night.

“Offensively we never got anything going from the get-go. We struggled all night. I don’t know if it was a combination of their D, or lack of our offensive aggressiveness. I don’t think we were aggressive enough. We just didn’t get a lot of good shots, hurried a couple of shots early. We just struggled all night.”

Minnesota West begins play today in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament as the #6 seeded Lady Jays will face #3 Mohawk Valley (NY) in a National Quarterfinal at 5:00pm (CT) and today’s game has been a long time coming for Lady Jay Head Coach Mike Fury.

New Competitive Section Assignments from the Minnesota State High School League


Another 2 years have passed and the Minnesota State High School League has released their new Competitive Section Assignments for the next 2 years beginning next year in 2015-2016.

For Worthington there has been a few changes, but many sports remain the same
