Jalen Voss named Conference and National Player of the Week

Former Worthington Trojan boys basketball standout Jalen Voss has once again been recognized for his outstanding play this season.

Voss, now a junior at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell (SD), has once again been chosen as the Great Plains Athletic Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season. Voss was also chosen as the NAIA Division II National Men's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 33.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game in helping to lead the Tigers to 2 wins last week.

Jalen Voss's big week began on Wednesday, February 12th when Voss poured in a game-high 33 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and had 3 blocked shots as Dakota Wesleyan picked up a 102-85 win over the Northwestern Red Raiders. Voss followed that effort up with a career-high 34 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds, helping to lead the Tigers to an 86-72 upset road victory over #13 Hastings (NE) last Saturday.

Voss is currently 2nd in the GPAC Conference in point per game, averaging 20.8 point per game this season, 2nd in rebounding, averaging 7.3 rebounds per game this season and 3rd in the conference in blocked shots. He has increased his production in conference play, averaging 22.2 PPG and 8.1 rebounds per game in GPAC play.

The National Player of the Week honor is the first in Jalen Voss's career and the first for a Dakota Wesleyan Men's Basketball player since 2006.

The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers are 16-13 overall and are 5th in the GPAC standings with a 9-10 record. The Tigers wrap up the regular season on the road tonight in Yankton to face Mount Marty and will begin play in the GPAC tournament on February 26th.
