Women’s College Basketball:
Morningside (JV) def. Minnesota West Lady Jays 81-75
--Minnesota West trailed by 22 points at 42-20 late in the first half before finishing on an 11-0 run to cut the lead to 11 at halftime. The Lady Jays started the 2nd half on fire, going on a 29-12 spurt to begin the 2nd half to take the lead. However, Morningside would rally back for the victory. Kristen Anderson led the Lady Jays with 17 points. Lydia Kemper added 16 points, Melissa Gehl and Brooke Henning each had 12 points and Bridget Kramer was in double figures with 10 points and added 10 assists. The Minnesota West Lady Jays fall to 3-2 on the season.
Men’s College Basketball:
Minnesota West Bluejays def. Morningside (JV) 83-80
--The Bluejays led by one at halftime and the 2nd half was back-and-forth in a game that featured 15 lead changes. Bluejay freshman Marcus Potter made 1-of-2 free throws with under 10 seconds left to make it a three point game, giving Morningside a chance to tie, but a long three-point attempt was no good giving Minnesota West the victory. Derek Buysee led Minnesota West with 23 points and 14 rebounds (19 points and 11 rebounds in the 2nd half). Mitch Prouty made 5 three-pointers and added 15 points, Marcus Potter had 11 points and Vencel Tigue added 10 points as the Bluejays improve to 3-2 on the season. The Minnesota West Lady Jays and Bluejays will be back in action at home again on Tuesday of next week when they host Dakota Wesleyan (JV)
Minnesota Wild def. Florida Panthers 4-1
--Jason Zucker led the Wild with 2 goals as Zach Parise and Nino Niederreiter each added a goal in the win. Minnesota improves to 12-8 on the season and hosts the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night.
