--Worthington trailed 22-17 late in Game 3 before scoring 6 straight points, led by 3 service aces from senior Betsy Thompson, to take the lead and hold on for the game 3 victory. Thompson also had 17 set assists for the Trojans while Emily Shaffer led Worthington with 8 kills. Porsha Porath led Windom with 13 kills. Worthington falls to 0-2 on the season and will host Heron Lake-Okabena in their home opener on Tuesday

--The Vikings finish the preseason at 4-0 and kickoff the regular season a wek from Sunday on September 7th at the St. Louis Rams

College Football:
Minnesota Golden Gophers def. Eastern Illinois 42-20
--Berkley Edwards rushed just 4 times for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Gophers rush for 182 yards as a team on their way to the win. Minnesota is 1-0 and will host Middle Tennessee State next Saturday afternoon

MLB Baseball:
Minnesota Twins def. Kansas City Royals 11-5 (10 innings)
--The Twins stave off the sweep attempt by the Royals by scoring 6 runs in the top of the 10th inning as Eduardo Nunez, Jordan Schafer, Brian Dozier and Kurt Suzuki each had RBI hits in the inning. Schafer led the Twins with 3 hits and 4 RBI’s and Brian Dozier had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s. Minnesota is 59-74 and will head to Baltimore for a weekend series with the Orioles. Sports Notes
--The Worthington YMCA is holding Registration and Informational Meeting for a couple of upcoming Adult Leagues.

A meeting will be held for the YMCA Adult Kickball League on Tuesday, September 2nd at 5:30pm at the Worthington Area YMCA at 1501 Collegeway in Worthington. Cost is $125 dollar per team.

A Meeting will also be held for the YMCA Adult Flag Football League also on Tuesday, September 2nd. That meeting will follow the kickball meeting at 6:00pm on Tuesday night
