MLB Baseball:
Minnesota Twins def. Chicago White Sox 7-5
--The Twins jumped out to a fast start by plating 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. First it was Joe Mauer who got the Twins on the board first with a two-run homerun, his 7th homerun of the season and Trevor Plouffe would keep the Twins offense going in the bottom of the 1st, scoring two more runs on an RBI single. The Chicago White Sox would rally back and tied the game on a Paul Konerko single in the top of the 8th inning. The Twins would take the lead right back in the bottom of the 8th on a Ryan Doumit 2-RBI double. Jeff Burton got the win in relief and Glen Perkins pitched a perfect 9th inning to pick up his 17th save of the season. Mauer and Doumit lead the Twins with 3 hits each. Minnesota improves to 31-36 on the season. Game 2 of the 3-game series with the White Sox is tonight, live coverage on AM 730 KWOA begins at 6:40pm tonight.
NBA Finals:
Miami Heat def. San Antonio Spurs 103-100 (OT)
--Miami’s Ray Allen hit a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left in regulation to force overtime as the Spurs could not hold on to a 10-point lead going into the 4th quarter. LeBron James led the Heat with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 30 points and 17 rebounds. The Finals are tied up 3-3 and Game 7 will be held in Miami on Thursday night.
